Home of British Darts!

Prestigious trophiesThe Lakeside Country Club - a leading entertainment hub in Surrey - is the home of British darts.

Established in 1972, the Club has been the host venue for the World Professional Darts Championships since 1986.

It is where men and women dart players from around the world compete for the prestigious Championship Trophy and a rich purse of prizes totalling hundreds of thousands of pounds sterling.

Each year, the sponsors have been increasing the cash prizes.

The Championships are the final climax to year-long local and national competitions. These are hosted by the British Darts Organisation (BDO) - the world's leading darts organisation with over 1,000 officials and a calendar that produces in excess of 800 darts events annually.

Lakeside Country Club, through its parent company, Bob Potter Leisure Limited, has been the main title sponsor since 2005.

The championships are held over nine days in January every year.

Tickets for this event go on sale in July/August of the preceding year and by October the event is usually over-subscribed but only about 11,000 people will be able to see it live.

Millions of others in Britain, Europe and around the world will watch it live on television courtesy of BBC Sports and its world partners.

The game attacts the single largest audience for any game of darts played on earth. Darts icon
