In its 28th year of hosting the world championships, the 2013 champions, Scott Waites and Anastasia Dobromyslova will be defending their titles against an impressive ranger of top players qualifying for the 2014 games to be held from Saturday 4 January to Sunday 12 January, 2014.
The 2013 games were charteractised by the unexpected as there were major upsets as new talent and stars shone.
It all took place here at Lakeside Country Club, Frimley Green, Surrey - one of the countries leading entertainment complexes and the undisputed home of World Darts.
The World Professional Darts Championships have been staged and promoted by the British Darts Organisation since 1978 and Lakeside Country Club (established in 1972) has been the host venue since 1986, and the main title sponsor since 2004.
This year sees the Championships being bigger and better than ever. The largest ever field of 40 men and 16 women will be competing for the most prestigious titles in world darts.
The annual championships attract a live audience of millions of television viewers in Britain, Europe and around the globe who watched it via BBC TV Sport and its world partners.
Collectively, the Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships are seen by the largest TV audience for darts anywhere in the world.
