About Lakeside World Darts — Covering the BDO Era, Champions and History from 1986 to 2020

Lakeside World Darts is an independent archive and editorial site covering the BDO World Darts Championship — the Lakeside era from 1986 to 2019, the players who defined it, the venue that held it, and the culture that surrounded it.

The site is written and edited by Graham Priestley, who has been attending darts in Britain since the late 1980s. He watched Bristow, Barneveld and Adams live at Frimley Green across three decades. He has strong views on which finals were genuinely great and which weren’t. He shares them.

What You’ll Find Here

This site covers five areas: tournament history, player profiles, the Lakeside venue, the rules and format of the game, and the broader culture of darts in Britain. The coverage runs from the founding of the BDO World Championship in 1978 through to its end in 2020 and beyond — including the WDF successor tournament that returned to Frimley Green in 2022.

All facts are sourced and verified. When something is opinion, it’s presented as opinion. There are no press releases here and no sponsored editorial.
